Belstone Season review 2023/24
A very successful season all round for senior and youth teams. Here’s a summary of goings on this season.

Saturday Seniors
Belstone’s first team became Herts County Senior League Premier Division Champions for the second time in 3 years. They move up from step 7 to step 6 in the football pyramid and look forward to the 24/25 season in the Combined Counties League Division 1. Well done lads!

Veterans
In their second season since forming, Belstone Veterans won the Quadruple! They won every trophy available, including the Middlesex County Cup, Herts Vets Super League Premier Divison, Herts Vets Super League Cup and the London Vets Ballerz Cup. Congratulations!
Youth

U15’s. Manager: Mike Heredia
U15s had a really positive season with many positive performances. A few new players joined and integrated brilliantly into the team. They look forward to continuing on as U16s next season where the target will be to have more consistency in performance.

U14s. Manager: Spencer Baum & Gidon Lemberg
The u14 enjoyed a strong season in division 4 after last year winning the division 6 league. A tough competitive season where they ended in the top 4. A courageous and strong effort and solid basis to go again in 2024/5.
It is also with a heartfelt sadness that we say goodbye to their incredible manager, Darren Harris, who has achieved so much over the years and brought so much positivity (On and off the field) to all who he coached. Thank you Darren

U13s. Manager: Simon Wax
The start of our fully first competitive season in the West Herts Youth League saw Belstone U13s start with several new players as we progressed from the 9-a-side to the 11-a-side format.
Despite some resounding victories against good opposition, our inexperience in some areas of the pitch left us vulnerable to teams playing very direct and physical football. Stymied by the wet weather, it wasn’t until March that we regained momentum and were able to address some of the issues of playing in what turned out to be a tough league.
However, the boys stepped up in terms of physicality, attitude and team cohesion and were rewarded with steadily improving performances and results. Our mid-table finish was boosted by some great wins against some of the top teams in the division, refreshing our confidence as we add a couple of stronger players to the squad and build towards next season at U14s!

U12 Reds. Manager Paul Legget:
“We joined the West Herts League for our first competitive season. Together the squad showed great ability and played as a team to be crowned Division 1 League and Challenge Cup Winners. Great effort boys!”

U12 Blacks. Manager Mike Heredia:
“Under 12 blacks had a solid season in the West Herts Second Division. After a tough start we progressed into the second half of the season and enjoyed many positive performances. The team is all looking forward to the transition to 11aside and welcoming a few new squad members to the group”

U11 Manager Joe Sheridan
Overall 2023/24 was a good year for the U11s, who maintained their status in playing in the top division and also reaching the U11 League Cup final, which they narrowly lost 2-0 to Hemel Hempstead Town Youth U11 Blue.
A transition year in both moving to 9v9 and some change in players, meant it took a while for the team to gel and get the results their performances deserved, but in the second half of the season saw a winning run of 8 games. Next season the team moves to competitive football and with a couple of additional signings, will see the team ready for the new challenge that awaits them.

Academy

U10 Reds. Manager: Shalin Vyas
U10 Reds kids and parents had another enjoyable and fun season. The team had 3 new players, which integrated well. As we focused on quick passing and movement, the team made great progress resulting in a great run since Jan. Kids are excited and looking forward to another challenge next year, as they move to 9-a-side. Game on!

U10 Blacks. Manager Mahesh Patel
A third successive season for u10s blacks in the West Herts League. The team grew and bonded to become a formidable outfit in their division. They are now looking forward to the move to 9 a side and continue their personal and team development.

U8s Reds. Manager: Russell Edmonds
U8 Reds have consolidated the progress of last season with a very strong season in the top division of the West Herts League.
This despite having one of the youngest teams in the league (all but one born after Easter). Having made a very strong impression in this age group, were routinely watched by club scouts and invited to play friendlies at the development centres of Watford, Stevenage and QPR.
The boys (and parents) deserve all the praise they can get for their consistency and dedication to training and playing!
This season was completed with a very well fought and deserved victory in the Sun Sports Football Tournament; our first tournament win as a team, but the first, we hope, of many!’
